2017 Unifor Organizing Forum

August 15, 2017 - 9:00 AM to August 17, 2017 - 5:00 AM

Organizing new members is a process: it requires every part of the union to be engaged, to reach out to communities of workers who do not benefit from union membership, and it requires forward thinking. Local unions, big and small, can play a role to map out their workplaces, make contact with non-union workers, and support them in getting their very own collective agreement.

The second Unifor Organizing Forum will provide local unions with tools they need to start organizing efforts or continue the work they have already begun. Participants will get a chance to hone their organizing skills by practicing some of the organizing techniques used by field organizers.

The Unifor Organizing Forum will be an opportunity to discuss and work on:

  • Recent Unifor organizing success stories
  • Workplace Mapping
  • The Unifor All in! Campaign tools and resources
  • Structured organizing conversations
  • The connections between organizing and bargaining

Attention Unifor Young Workers!
Young workers have the potential to play a positive organizing role in Unifor for many years ahead. The Organizing Forum is offering young workers the opportunity to participate in a stand-alone portion of the forum, taking place on the evening of Wednesday, August 16, 2017 and the morning of Thursday, August 17, 2017. Local unions are encouraged to send members who are 35 years old and under to the Organizing Forum, and if possible, to also include them as part of their delegation for Canada Council.

The Organizing Forum will take place at the RBC Convention Centre, 375 York Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
