TORONTO – In support of workers and good paying jobs, Unifor has launched a national

‘I Shop Canada’ campaign to promote and increase the purchase of made-in-Canada products and services.

I Shop Canada is about making a choice at the cash register to use our collective consumer purchasing power to aid workers in our communities and across the country,” said Unifor National President Jerry Dias.

I Shop Canada is a social media platform for consumers, workers and companies to share information on made-in-Canada goods and services. The online awareness campaign comes in response to the escalating trade war with the United States and a growing sentiment among Canadian consumers to support homegrown industries.

“U.S. trade attacks on Canada are a clear and present threat to our national economy. It’s no coincidence that this campaign is being launched just ahead of Canada Day, which is also the date when counter-tariffs will be imposed on the U.S.,” said Dias. “I firmly believe that if aware and given the choice consumers will gladly support Canadian brands and services and the jobs behind them.”

Information and images can be shared on Twitter using the #IShopCanada hashtag and @IShopCA tag and on Facebook, where an I Shop Canada frame for profile pictures is also available for download.

“By choosing to shop Canada you are investing in good paying jobs while also providing a boost to the economy,” said Dias. “Together we can make a difference – one purchase at a time.”
