CNTL Update: Ratification Results and Next Steps

Dear Members,

Following ratification voting from coast to coast, it has become clear that the majority of our members have not approved the tentative agreement with CN Transportation Ltd. (CNTL), initially reached on January 16, 2024.

Given this outcome, we are taking immediate steps to seek resolution and support. The Union will promptly request conciliation through the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), as mandated by the Canada Labour Code. Upon our request, the Federal Minister of Labour will assign a conciliator within 15 days, initiating a structured 60-day conciliation effort, succeeded by a 21-day cooling-off phase. This process is crucial to finding a mutually agreeable path forward, ensuring both parties have the opportunity to revisit discussions in a constructive environment.

In parallel, we are actively arranging further discussions with CNTL and CN Labour Relations to address our members' concerns highlighted during the ratification voting. It's our priority to ensure your voice is heard, and we are committed to advocating for terms that meet our collective needs and expectations.

We understand the importance of keeping you informed and involved every step of the way. Please stay tuned for updates as we progress through these next critical phases. Your input and solidarity are invaluable as we strive to secure a fair and just agreement.

Thank you for your continued support and unity.
